Apply to at least 3 schools (Including the ones closest to your home)
Visit your local library or internet cafe for assistance. IT-LAB at Altena PS can assist as well.
Indicate your order of preference on the system. Should Altena PS be your first choice, you need to indicate it as number 1 choice, when you apply.
Keep 2 copies of your online application.
a. One copy for yourself for future reference.
b. One copy to be submitted with your application at the school when you receive notification from the WCED online system, via sms or email, that your application was successful.
c. Altena PS will also notify you via email if your application was successful.
As soon as you received notification from the WCED that your application was successful, you MUST confirm your choice of school on the WCED online website in order not to forfeit your space at the school of your choice.
If you received notification from Altena PS via email that your application was successful, hand in all the supporting documents, to the school office within seven school days.
The school will issue a receipt with a unique reference number to you. This reference number and receipt must be shown as evidence that you applied online and submitted your application for admission for your child to Altena PS.
If your child has a sibling in Altena PS, indicate it in the online admission. Siblings should receive preference.
Ensure you indicate the correct grade.
If you are registering for Gr 1, kindly indicate if your child has attended Gr R and specify the name of the school.
Indicate the correct mother tongue.
Supporting documents: Certified copies of all documents are required.
The last official school Report Card | Results of the learner, for learners who have been to school.
ID | Birth certificate | passport of the learner; OR
A study permit (foreign learners); OR
Proof of application (study permit) or a police affidavit
Immunization card (Road to Health Chart) [Primary Schools Only]
Proof of residence
PLEASE register in time before the closing date of the online admissions. After that, your child’s name would be placed on a list. Note that applying online does not confirm that your child has a place at the school. It depends on available space at the school at the beginning of the year.
